Therefore the phantoms fully comply with the respective DIN and IEC standards. Unlike alternatively available products, the QUART line pair test patterns are made of high-quality lead foil material. This guarantees most accurate evaluation options for acceptance and constancy testing due to optimal image definition capabilities!
Simple metal foil test patterns, which are often used in non-QUART dental test phantoms, are less cost-efficient – but also less reliable for checks on image resolution properties of x-ray machines. This is caused by different densities and therefore different attenuation characteristics of the two materials: Despite being of thicker substance, other metal foils in comparison with lead foils have a lesser attenuation ratio – which results in less defined image acquisition of line pairs in the test patterns. Apparently, this decreases the validity of most test images.

The middle segment containing all test elements has 2 lateral cavities to be fixed at cephalometric systems. And by using the optional Panoramic Holder, the phantom is set-up in the tomographic plane with maximum reproducibility at dental OPGs.
